LeMans series @ Fuji, 120min

Posted 2009-08-31 by Mikael Larsson

Another fun-event with the Endurance cars, this time in Fuji and a 120 minutes race. Mikael Larsson in LMP1, Mark A Warmington in LMP2 and Eckhart von Glan in GT2 entered.

Both Mark and Eckhart unfortunately got disconnected and had to retire. Too bad guys!

Mikael was safe in 3rd position when it was 10 minutes to go. Almost run out of fuel and a bad decision trying to save fuel resulted in a pitstop anyway and lost 1 spot to 4th where he finished. Only a few small mistakes on the way but he did all 120 minutes.

Great job everyone, keep the spirit up and the approaching league start will be great!

Le Mans series @ Sebring

Posted 2009-08-26 by Mikael Larsson

A 150 minute long race at Sebring was held on Wednesday. A good event to practice a longer run and the driver swap.

Mark A Warmington and Mikael Larsson entered in an LMP1, lonely in that class but a good race practice session. They did only a few minor mistakes and kept the car rolling without damage and in a quite good and steady pace all 150 minutes.

Finally they got the checkered flag as overall winners.

A new exciting league is about to start. The pre-season testing of the new MMG F1 mod for Race07/GTR Evolution has begun.

Signed up drivers for our team is Mikael Larsson and Mark A Warmington. Our newest team member Konrad signed up for this league before getting a BFR member and will therefore not drive with our flag. But good luck to all of you!

NASJ STCC, Round 1: Valer

Posted 2009-06-09 by Mikael Larsson

The first round in SimJunkies short 4 race league is over. Two Blueflaggers have entered: Mikael Larsson and William Yunck.
A two race event, 18 laps with a mandatory pitstop with a minimum 2 tyre change.

The both did very well in the superpole: Mikael qualified as no.1 (55.190) and William as 3rd (55.536).

Race 1:
Mikael lost one place in the start and was chasing the leader for several laps. This track doesn´t offer much when it comes to passing, and Mikael was just waiting for an opportunity to pass caused by a mistake. Only a few laps to go, and there it was. Mikael got the victory!
William held his 3rd place half the race when he suddenly made a small mistake and lost down to 10th! Driving safe was really paying off when one by one made mistakes and he was able to finish in position 5. Well done!

Race 2:
William in 4th and Mikael in 8th on the grid.
They both made great starts where William advanced 2 positions and Mikael 3. 2nd and 5th.
In lap 10, William still in 2nd, he tried to avoid a crash and ended upp in the grass. Managed to get right on track again, in 4th now. Nice and steady he advanced 2 more spots and finished 2nd! Great!
Mikael was determined to drive safe and clean, waiting for others to make mistakes. And one by one got distracted when his front showed up in the mirrors. He finally climbed to the top once more!

Blue Flag Racing 1st and 2nd overall! Great job guys!

STC, GT Pro Round 2: A1 Ring

Posted 2009-04-10 by Mark A Warmington

On Thursday 9th April, 2009 the Simracing Team Challenge set up camp at the Austrian Grand Prix circuit, the A1 Ring.  The circuit has not seen any competitive racing on its tight configuration circuit since the grandstands were demolished in 2004, rendering the circuit unusable for any form of racing.

When the team arrived they saw that the long distance weather report had been unbelieveably accurate, with the circuit engulfed in a deluge of rain that would last throughout the event.

Qualifying saw a reversal of fortunes for the two Blue Flag Racers, with Kristofer Larsson taking 8th on the grid with a time of 1:31.699 and Mark A Warmington lining up 10th on a 1:31.959. This turned into what was essentially 9th as the DHR -Fanatec CCGT #12 of David Bischoff was unable to make it to the grid.

Larsson, still unable to spend as much time on setup as he would like to drove a solid and consolidating race to bring his Aston Martin DBR9 home in 10th place.  However, Warmington was to endure another incident packed event, with transponder issues resulting in none of his race laps being recorded.

Even though he was engaged in what could only be described as a dogfight between five cars for 11th place, Warmington's race would ultimately end in disappointment in the pits.  Electrical faults, the source of the transponder issues, would result in his engine failing to turn over at the end of the stop - ending his race on the spot.

Next round, Vallelunga...

SSRTCC, Round 1: Mantorp Park

Posted 2009-03-31 by Mark A Warmington

Monday 30th March, 2009 saw Blue Flag Racing's Kent Karlen kick off what promises to be an action packed season in sim racing.  Kent will be flying the flag for Blue Flag Racing in two Swedish online leagues (SSRTCC & SRMTCC).

First up, round one of the SSRTCC at Mantorp Park:

Qualifying was a superpole affair, seeing Kent put in a competitive lap of 1.21.6.  This lap was good enough to take 6th on the grid.

The first race in the double-header event saw Kent hold on to his 6th place and then saw him succesfully move up into 5th place.  Pushing hard, in an attempt to make up further ground, resulted in a small mistake that dropped him back down to 6th again.  This action packed experience was far from over though, as Kent fought his way back into 4th, with the help of some off track action from the competitors in front.

With four laps to go Kent was required to show nerves of steel to cross the line in 2nd place - a perfect start to a new season!

The second race of the event was no less action packed as Kent battled hard with his rivals.  Ultimately unable to replicate the success of race one, Kent would finish lower down the order.

Kent will be back in SSRTCC action on April 14th, when the series takes on the circuit Karlskoga.

STC, GT Pro, Round 1: Watkins Glen

Posted 2009-03-28 by Mark A Warmington

On Thursday 26th March, 09 drivers Mark A Warmington and Kristofer Larsson represented Blue Flag Racing in the opening round of the GT Pro division of the 2009 Blue Cup at Watkins Glen (Long).

Both drivers went into the round with conservative expectations of what they might achieve; for Kristofer Larsson, it was a case of knowing that he had not been able to spend as much time developing a race setup as he would like; for Mark A Warmington it was more to do with concerns over equipment reliability.

Free practice was somewhat uneventful, with both drivers evaluating their race and qualifying setups, this being their first real opportunity to size up the competition for 2009.

Superpole qualifying was to throw up one or two surprises.  It was Kristofer Larsson who had to contend with the reliability issues, when vapour lock caused a misfire during his one and only hot lap - resulting in a 12th spot grid position.  Whilst Mark A Warmington stunned himself by nailing a time that would see him sneak into the top 10 in 10th position.

Mark A Warmington had a hard charging first lap, climbing to 8th, then managed to continue his opening stint charge as he made his way up to 6th position, making the most of the Aston Martin, DBR9´s dynamic handling.  During an action packed race Mark would make 21 passes for position, 10 of these when passing pitting cars in the pitlane, but would ultimately end the day in 11th position.

Kristofer Larsson found himself dropping one spot on the opening lap, signaling the beginning of an intense battle for position that he would be embroiled in for much of the first half of the race.  Kristofer was able to overcome many hurdles, fights for position, close contact with other competitors, a damaged front splitter that hampered performance, as he battled on to finish a highly respectable 8th.

Next round... A1 Ring, Austria on April 9th.  Long distance weather reports say to expect rain!

STC, GT Sport, Round 1: Watkins Glen

Posted 2009-03-22 by Mikael Larsson

Round 1 was held at March 19th in the GT Sport class. From our team, Kris Leeten and Mark A Warmington was on the lineup with our BMW. Mark encountered some network problems during practice and Mikael Larsson as a reserve was able to jump in, just in time for qualification. Mikael qualified as 10th and Kris as 18th.

A lot of action, and we all waits for a movie.

Both Mikael and Kris did what they were expected to do, bring the cars home in one piece after 90 minutes of hard racing. None of them had the pace for a top fight. Mikael ended up in 8th position, 1.38m behind the winner Damian Dainhumain who was outstanding. Kris finished as 14th, 2 laps behind.

The team result for this round is looking better for us. Both cars to the finish is always good and we´re in position 4 with 24 points, 17 behind GMT-DHR.
Seems like this will be a very close championship this year, with more teams participating.

The GT Pro class will be driven March 26th.

STC, Testrace at Paul Ricard

Posted 2009-03-12 by Mikael Larsson

The 2nd STC testrace was held at Paul Ricard in the GT PRO class. Eckhart von Glan and Mikael Larsson was there with a very good outcome. Eckhart managed to control the Aston beast for the completely 90 minutes while Mikael claimed his first victory!

STC, Testrace at Norisring

Posted 2009-03-05 by Mikael Larsson

A new ETC season is about to begin. A namechange has occured since there are other than european teams participating. The new name is Simracing Team Challenge, STC. Other news is that superpole qualification will be used.

The first season test was held at Norisring. Kris Leeten, Mark A Warmington and Ivan Novi was there. Only Ivan survived and finished in 8th.

Good to see 2 more blueflaggers willing to run this league.
