Mikke takes 10

Blue Flagger Mikael Larsson scored a solid 10th position on Elkhart Lake (Road America) tonight in the 6th race of the STC Black Cup 2011.

After a disappointing qualification lap that put him in position 15 the swift Swede was in for an action packed race.
With 17 minutes to go Larsson found himself in position 10, only 10 seconds behind Loffler of the Black Rebels: "...and [I] was closing 1s per lap. Really tried my hardest to beat him but missed the chance during a lapping."

With only one lap to go Mikael again was on Lofflers tail, only 0.5s behind. But there were other worries for Larsson: "... I was running out of gas! In the uphill before finish line, my engine died, but could finish anyway."

Next race will be November 10th at Trois Rivieres.

RDLMS - R3: BFR Scores Again

Posted 2011-03-03 by Mark A Warmington

On Saturday 12th February 2011, Blue Flag Racing secured our 2nd podium finish of the Race Department Le Mans Series Championship.

This, the second series of the RDLMS Championship, is proving to be a season of firsts for BFR.

The event started extremely well when Mikael Larsson improved on the previous best qualifying performance for BFR in the RDLMS, 4th in class at Daytona, by placing the BFR Acura ARX-01 P2 in 2nd in class for the 6-hours of Sebring.  This race, at one of the most historic venues of North American Motor-sports - would prove to be both eventful and highly satisfying for the team.

Larsson followed up his stellar qualifying performance with a highly competitive first stint.  One in which he kept the BFR P2 in or around the top-10 cars on the road and at times even contested the lead of the P2 class overall.

At the first stop the team had to overcome a slight hiccup, one that put them back into the race down in 15th place overall.  This setback, along with others the team would experience during the 6-hour event, did nothing other than inspire the team to fight back and attempt to reclaim their lost position in the P2 field.

Theo De Bruin and Mark A Warmington supported the initial Larsson charge with some fine stints of their own, until Larsson, on his second stint of the race, put the team in contention to steal back the 3rd place that would give them their second consecutive podium finish of the season.  The job of rubber stamping this finish fell to Warmington - as he put in probably his most competitive stint of the season to date to take not only 3rd in the P2 class but 6th place overall for the team.

Next up is the 8-hours of Fuji.
